Madisonville Becomes Home to
Land O'Frost's Third, Newest Facility
Officials Welcome State-of-the-Art Plant to Town
Madisonville, Ky., September 12, 2007 – Madisonville is now officially home to leading lunch and deli meat manufacturer Land O'Frost’s newest facility. Local officials welcomed the company to town by joining CEO Donna Van Eekeren and Executive Vice President David Van Eekeren in an opening celebration today. Madisonville Mayor William Cox Jr. spoke of the many contributions to the local economy and business community made possible through the selection of the Hopkins County seat as the site for the new plant.
The Madisonville facility was a critical addition to Land O'Frost’s expansion strategy, supplementing two other plants in Lansing, Ill., and Searcy, Ark. The plant is currently producing Turkey Breast under the Land O'Frost Premium® label, and the company plans to introduce ham products in the future. Continuing the momentum as one of the top three companies in the industry, Land O'Frost has experienced tremendous growth during the past decade.
“Land O'Frost has made a substantial investment to build an industry model that will set the new standard in food safety and technology,” said Donna Van Eekeren, CEO, Land O'Frost. “As a family-owned company, we deeply understood the value in choosing the right location for this state-of-the-art facility. We are proud to call Madisonville home.”
“As part of our ‘Moving Madisonville Forward!’ program, we encourage top quality companies to join our industrial community in Hopkins County,” said William Cox, mayor, City of Madisonville. “We are thrilled to officially welcome Land O'Frost to their new home, and we are excited to serve as a true partner to the company.”
Land O'Frost has a history of longevity in employee base and strong ethical values, which mirrored the values of Madisonville and Hopkins County. As a result, Madisonville has the potential of gaining 350 new employment positions in the next three to five years, while benefiting from the additional lodging and restaurant traffic.
The company has established solid roots in the communities where it operates, and this commitment has continued in Madisonville. The company already participated in Madisonville-area youth activities in 2007, such as sponsoring the Future Farmers of America (FFA) and 4-H club livestock events at the Hopkins County Fair and getting involved in the United Way Employee Campaign.
Director of the Madisonville/Hopkins County Economic Development Corporation, Danny Koon, understands the value of bringing a solid, established company to the area. “The recent addition of the Land O'Frost facility to Madisonville is a benefit for current and future employees,” said Koon. “The community can also take pride in having this nationally-recognized brand in our own backyard.”
