Family Resource Youth Service Centers Centers developed to promote the flow of resources and support to families and youth in an effort to enhance student success in school. The centers assist with the physical, educational and emotional needs of students and their families.
School to Work Program A program designed to assist all students at all levels prepare for a rewarding career. It connects what is learned in the classroom to its relevance in today’s challenging and changing workplace. This program begins in elementary school, continues through middle school and culminates at the high school level. L.I.F.E. (Learning It First Through Education) is a successful component of this highly successful program. L.I.F.E. is based on the concept of a reality store. It is an active, hands-on, real life simulation that allows students to explore career opportunities and make lifestyle and budget choices similar to those which adults face on a daily basis. Supported by the Madisonville-Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce this program involves over 100 volunteers.
Partners in Education Program A cooperative effort between the Madisonville-Hopkins County Chamber of Commerce and the Hopkins County Board of Education. Numerous businesses in Hopkins County have shown their support and enthusiasm for education through their involvement in a reciprocal relationship between education and business designed to build a commitment to the future of Hopkins County.
Health Services Curriculum A special program available at the high school level beginning with the 1999-2000 school year. Students who participate will be enrolled in four semester classes, Medical Terminology, Fundamentals of Health Math, Human Growth and Development and CPR and First Aid. This will be the first time in the state of Kentucky that students will be allowed to receive dual credit, both high school and technical college credit at the same time, for health related courses. The purpose of this program is to develop our student’s interest and expand the opportunities in health care education at the local level. This should provide student’s with the opportunity to identify a field of interest sooner and to utilize articulated program agreements between the Hopkins County Board of Education, Madisonville Technical College and Madisonville Community College.
Hopkins County Adult Education Program This program offers Literacy Training, GED preparation, work place readiness skills training, and basic skills upgrade.
